It is amazing how fast this semester has gone by! I am so glad I have taken this class and feel like I have learned a lot of new information and insight. Before taking this class I thought of blogging as sharing about ones life or about a specific topic. I also knew that blogging can be in the form of videos called “vlogging”.
I thought that I wouldn’t really enjoy blogging because I didn’t think that I had anything really interesting to share or say because I don’t know a ton of facts about a particular topic. Instead, I have my opinions and ideas about topics that I enjoy. As I started blogging I was a little lost on what topic I should write about which made me not feel super excited and kind of discouraged. But, as I brainstormed and started designing my blog I began to feel more confident about blogging.
As I continued I got the hang of it and realized that blogging can be really fun as well as creative. I like how I was able to share my thoughts and opinions as well as see others comments and reflect on what I think rather than just reporting facts about something. I learned that I can put my personality into my blog rather than just writing plainly.
I also learned that blogging isn’t only learning new information from people, but when you read and interact with someone’s blog, you are learning about people’s perspectives and who they are as an individual. In a way, keeping up with someones blog is kind of like meeting a friend even though you don’t actually know that person. I didn’t realize how personal and connecting blogs can be.
During these times of COVID19 I think blogs are a great resource and outlet because you can connect with people as well as it is a productive, fun, and creative activity to do. It also is great for others because they may be really interested in your thoughts and insight and feel a connection to your blog. I now see that blogging can create a community and bring people together which is pretty interesting!
I also learned that although a blog has a general theme, you have the flexibility to write about other topics that connect to that general theme. I learned that blogs don’t have to be so structured and you have the ability and freedom to take your blog in different directions that end up connecting together. I think by doing this is what keeps blogs interesting.
After having some experience blogging, I would like to learn more about how to grow my viewership and how to get more people to engage with my blog. I think with a larger viewership and more interaction makes a blog come to life even more so. I think it is great to hear others opinions and ideas. This allows you to further shape your ideas as well as be able to include your audience into your blog. I would also like to do more research and learn about what can make my blog more successful. There are tons of tips and tricks to learn about online on how to make your blog a success.
This class has been very interesting as well as fun! I think this class is very balanced between lecture and hands on work which I loved and made it really enjoyable. I think that my current knowledge about blogging will be able to be applied to many different aspects of my life including now and within the future.
Hello Christina, I really enjoyed reading your post. If you decided to continue on with your blog would you consider vlogging?
